Marketing & Communications officer

Are you an experienced marketing and communications professional who enjoys working in an international academic environment?

The Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Marketing & Communications Officer (32 – 36 hours/week) to strengthen our master team during a period of maternity leave. In this role, you will contribute to the visibility and positioning of our master programmes and help us reach and engage prospective students, supervisors and international partners worldwide.

Job description
Within the GSMS master team we are looking for an experienced marketing and communications officer to replace a colleague during her pregnancy leave. As a communications officer, you work closely with the team leader of the master programmes and the other colleagues within the GSMS office.

The activities are aimed at (prospective) students, their supervisors and (international) partners. Our students come from all over the world, therefore all communication is in English.

Core activities are.

• Marketing and communication of the two master programmes.
• Managing the various websites (experience with Prospero/Apollo is an advantage) of the GSMS.
• Developing communication material such as newsletters, mailings, brochures and social media content.
• Writing and editing texts (website, newsletters, mailings).
• Coordinating and monitoring the social media policy.
• Representing the GSMS and the UMCG at national fairs and other promotional events.
• Coordinating communication policy with the communication/marketing staff of the University of Groningen.

The Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) educates and trains excellent researchers and promotes excellent research.

The GSMS is responsible for all (research) master programmes and PhD (education) programmes within the UMCG.

Job requirements

The candidate we are looking for is pro-active, service-minded, well-organized and fits the following requirements:

• a relevant educational background, at least at HBO level;
• excellent online communication skills, including social media;
• excellent marketing development skills;
• experience in international marketing, experience with (research) masters and PhD programmes is an advantage;
• good command of English language in word, speech and writing;
• experience with working in CMS systems;
• experience with Adobe InDesign is an advantage.

What do we offer

• A contract for 32 - 36 hours/week, starting as soon as possible till February 1st 2027.
• An international and dynamic environment with dedicated colleagues in the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of the UMCG.
• Supervision by and regular meetings with the team leader of the master programmes.
• Your salary will be a maximum of € 5.867 gross per month (scale 10 from 1 July), depending on your qualifications and relevant experience, based on a full-time appointment.
• Additionally, the UMCG offers an 8% holiday allowance, an 8.3% year-end bonus.
• The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for Medical Centres (CAO-UMC).
